Is the old man an angel or just a man with wings?

I think that the old man is not an angel and just an old man with wings because even though angels have wings and he fact does have wins but other than his wings he possesses no similarity to angels in anyway. The old man does not look handsome or clean like an angel and his wings or dirty and infested with disease and he only spoke Norweigan where as angels were known for speaking Latin. The old man did not seem to have come from a happy place like angels usually come from. This turn of events leads the old man to symbolize luck because wherever the old man with wings landed he brought luck and riches (the people that held the old man made money off of him.)
